What is the Treatment for Jaw Injuries?

Jaw injuries require immediate medical attention due to possibility of breathing problems and inhaling blood.

For a broken jaw, temporary bandaging around the top of the head through chin can help keep the jaw in place.

If the fracture is minor, it can heal on its own with time.

For severe fractures, surgery might be needed.

A dislocated jaw can be treated manually.

Local anaesthetics and muscle relaxants will be given first to minimize the pain and enable the jaw muscle to relax and loosen up.

Once the jaw bone is ready to be manipulated, it can be brought back to its original position using the thumbs.

Surgery might be required in complex cases.
